FSSAI Food license
  • All traders, restaurants, food business operators, including pharmacies or medical stores selling Health supplements or Nutraceutical products need FSSAI license.
  • As per in ‘FSS (Licensing & Registration) Regulations, 2011, Licenses and Registrations are granted to FBOs in a 3 tier system i.e. Registration, State license and Central License.

Types of FSSAI License Registration

  1. Mid-sized businesses with an annual turnover of more than 12 lakh but less than 20 crores must apply for an FSSAI State License.

FSSAI CENTRAL LICENSE

  1. Required for Large businesses with an annual turnover of Rs. 20 crore or more
  2. Another scenario in which an FSSAI Central License is required is when you need to supply food to government offices or import and export food.

Documents Needed for FSSAI Registration

  1. A declaration form stating all details mentioned are true.
  2. An authority letter stating permission to apply for an FSSAI Central License on your behalf.
  3. If you own the food factory or premises, the property papers are needed.
  4. In case the premises is a rented property, a copy of the rent agreement is required.
  5. A self-declared copy of the Food Safety Management System Plan.
  6. A copy of the electricity or water bill of the business place.
  7. A copy of the Aadhar card of the proprietor or director of the company.

Guidelines on FSSAI License Number

  • The 14-digit number provides information about the manufacturer’s license or registration details and the manufacturing state which will be called as fssai no.
  • The Brand owner shall display the FSSAI logo and his license number on the label of food package.
  • In case of imported food products, the importer shall display FSSAI logo and license number along with the name and address of importer on a sticker to be affixed before customs clearance.

FSSAI License Renewal Documents

An FBO must produce a few documents in order to successfully renew their food license. The following documents are required in accordance with the various eligibility criteria for the FSSAI Certificate.

FSSAI Basic License Renewal

  • Applicant's Passport-Size Photograph
  • Identification Proof (voter ID or Aadhar Card)
  • Address Proof for PAN Card (Telephone or Mobile Bill/Electricity or Gas Bill)
  • Copies of Property Documents (If Owned)
  • A copy of the rental agreement and a landlord authorization letter (if renting a property)

State License Renewal

  • Complete address and contact information for the Society's Proprietors/Partners/Directors/Executive Members
  • Passport size photo, PAN Card & ID Proof(Voter ID card or Aadhaar Card) of applicant
  • In the case of Co-Operatives, a copy of the firm's Partnership Deed/MOA/AOA or a copy of the Certificate obtained under the Co-Operative Act, 1861 is required.
  • A copy of the rental agreement and a letter of authorization from the landlord (if renting the property)
  • NOC from the manufacturer (in the case of a distributor)/NOC from the municipality or local body
  • An E-Code document issued by DGFT (Directorate General of Foreign Trade)

Manufacturing and Processing Units

  • The blueprint or layout of the food processing unit.
  • List all the machinery units employed.
  • A list of the food products desired to be manufactured.
  • Pesticide residue reports of water.

Some Points are Consider about FSSAI License Renewal

Here are some key points to remember during the FSSAI license renewal process:

  • Non-renewal of the FSSAI license may result in a penalty.
  • The FBI's current food license will be placed in the renewal bin 60 days before it expires. It is recommended that FBOs apply for renewal as soon as their license appears in the renewal bin.
  • FBOs should apply for a food license renewal 30 days before the expiration date.In the event of a delay, the food operator will be charged a penalty of $100 per day.
  • If you need to make changes to your renewal application, contact the designated officer, who may be able to provide you with a tracking ID receipt number.
  • To proceed with the FSSAI License Renewal, you must accept the warning message. If you do not, your application will be deemed incomplete.
